I was in no way sporty in my primary school so creative work was that avenue that led to expression, opportunity, light and freedom. As time passed in those early years, I realized I had discovered what I hoped would be my vocation. I am always captivated by observing people, by their circumstances and by life around me. I want to express that energy and inner strength I see in in them and I use the environment in which I find myself as the initial basis for works.

When I started to carve and print in Art College, I knew I had found the media most suitable for me. In both sculpture and printmaking there is the discovery of having a work evolve before your eyes, sculpture is a slow process in which you find the image emerging as you go. Printmaking for me is very similar as it is only when the actual printing process takes place do I see the work truly emerge, and the variety of techniques and materials in printmaking allow for great discovery and experimentation. In my profession as a sculptor, I am greatly influenced by the variety of work I see while working with Bronze Art, Fine Art Foundry, Dublin. I am also greatly stimulated by the work of fellow members in the Graphic Studio.
